The Line on The Score... Over the hills and far away, neatly tucked in the town of Glastonbury, Connecticut, a classic rock band was formed. After his spoof metal act went on hiatus, Drummer Walter Jennings hooked up with two deadhead guitarists, Dave Gager and Dr. Jonas McAlarney, and began the jam. Walter was previously in a band with other teachers from East Hartford Middle School, and shortly afterward, bassist Matt Aliberti and then smooth vocalist Jeremy Banks joined the jam. This incarnation of dirt rock was originally called Firewater and proceeded to play out. In time, Jonas left the band to further his medical career, and Jeremy introduced us to guitarist extraordinare Dave Blodgett, who took us in a new musical direction and completed the band as we see them today. In short time, the band dropped the name Firewater and after considerible debate, was re-christened The Score. In August of 2007, the band officially added longtime guest Tom Donato as a saxophone player, as the band cements itself as a versatile party band that can jam across many popular musical styles. On Saturday, September 29th, 2007 The Score celebrated its 50th gig with a rockin' three sets at Sweet Jane's in Hartford!
The Score is a cocktail of many musical influences that allow you to dance, hold your glass high or even occasionally bang your head. From the jam bands to southern rock, Motown to the 80's and even hard rock, each member brings a different flavor to the band. The band has played private parties, the occasional wedding, a successful Hurricane Katrina benefit and a NEA teacher's retirement rally at the Connecticut Capital Building that was covered by the news media and attended by 2000 people. Currently, we are a semi-regular Thursday performer at Farmington's Murphy and Scarletti's where we have cultivated a loyal base of friends. Over the past 2 years, The Score has branched out and played outdoor events and jammed in other fine establishments, town plazas and greens as well as other venues around the central Connecticut area.
