If you are stuck on a desert island, what would be pumping out of the old coconut radio? Between bites of poi, thoughts of Ginger and Maryann waft in and out of conciousness as the sands of time endlessly shift. The tunes have to be right or you could wind up talking to a blood stained soccer ball! The Score will now share their top albums...

1) Tower of Power - Tower of Power --This one started the onslaught of funk albums, including Maceo Parker & Candy Dulfer
2) Boston - Boston -- The original and still the best.
3) Blood, Sweat & Tears - Blood, Sweat & Tears -- Played this one over & over & over. I still remember my Dad yelling to me in my room to turn it down.
4) Chicago Transit Authority - Chicago Transit Authority -- a.k.a Chicago I. I had to turn the volume down on this one too. I think I was in 7th grade at the time.
5) Brian Setzer Orchestra - Brian Setzer Orchestra -- I remember my kids telling me to turn this one down!
And now, the albums which are not self-titled...
6) Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band -- Swingin' For the Fences - Best big band out there today.

Concert Report: (all years are approximate)
First Concert - Blood, Sweat & Tears - 1971 at the Bushnell in Hartford.
Best Concert - Bill Watrous (1994) at the Avon Old Farms Hotel. Front row...almost close enough to get hit with the slide.
Honorable mention concerts:
Maceo Parker - (1994) Iron Horse, Northhampton, Mass. -- If the band's enegry could have been bottled...the bottle would break!
Tower of Power - (1993) The Sting - New Britain. -- I chose this show because it was the first of many TOP shows.
Funk Filharmonic - (1996) Jerhico, NY -- Two friends, Tom Bowes and me sitting and chatting between sets. How cool is that?
Candy Dulfer - (1994) Toad's Place, New Haven --Waitng until 3:00AM on my birthday to meet her after the show.
Earth, Wind & Fire (1978) Springfield Civic Center -- They were at their peak! The band didn't sing "September", but they did play it. The entire audience sang it. The band played and listened to us.
Boston Symphony Orchestra - (1979) Tanglewood, Lenox, Mass. My brother sat in and was in the trumpet section for a night. We went out for ice cream with my parents after, just like when he was in the elementary school band.
