12/10/2010 The Score rocked out at the Veteran's Memorial Clubhouse in East Hartford for the CREC Polaris Holiday Party. The band had a couple of curveballs thrown at 'em - guitarist Dave Gager was in Vegas and Blodge accidentally broke his custom AO guitar! After a poll indicated that no one had a spare guitar or a soldering iron hanging around, he had to run home and get another! But of course the band started just in time, and in the end, the floor was poppin' as the educators put down their plan books and danced throughout the set, especially during offerings of The Beatles, Doobie Brothers and during the Score finale of Play That Funky Music. The boys from Glastonbury also added Fleetwood Mac's Go Your Own Way to their growing list of classic tunes. This show was special because it was for Matt's co-workers, and they know how to have a good time. The Score had an awesome time, with some great people and bangin' food! If you have a party and find yourself in need of a solid classic party rock band, look no further than The Score! Happy Holidays to all!
11/05/2010 The Score slammed down show number one hundred into the books at The Blackboard Cafe in Windsor Locks with a rockin' offering of classic party hits. The boys from Glastonbury cranked out three sets of tunes on the big stage for old friends and Blackboard regulars, bringing back old favorites like All Right Now and a powerhouse version of Pinball Wizard and scored big with classics like Hard to Handle, Long Train Running, Gimme Three Steps and Sweet Home Alabama. Jen Roggi pitched in on backups on several tunes including Mustang Sally. During set two, the party jumped into high gear as Matt went airborne during The Middle and the floor filled with partying patrons. The Score would like to thank everyone who made the trip north to see our milestone show. We had a great time hanging out with you all up north and we look forward to another opportunity to rock out at The Blackboard Cafe!
10/14/2010 Gigs can be like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get. Well, when you are jamming out with The Score at Murphy & Scarletti's in Farmington, you know you are in for three solid sets of fun party rock! This one started fast and furious as the wild and crazies were out and celebrating. The dancing was a flurry of moonwalks and other indescribable moves as the band scorched through an awesome first set, which included the return of Learn to Fly and Born to be Wild. The second set was solid as a rock as the boys from Glastonbury set a smooth groove. Billy Baker joined the band for a duet on Can't You See, and the band offered a bouncy Too Little Too Late, and a spirited Fins. The crowd thinned out a bit for set three, and the band did some requests, bringing back Eyes of the World and The Weight to mix in with powerhouse tunes like Paranoid and a tight version of Uncle Kracker's Smile. This was another great Murphy's show with The Score, hope you were there
10/8/2010 It was a Friday in October, but the weather was feeling like a perfect early September night as The Score made its return to West Hartford's Blue Back Square to play under the stars in front of a huge crowd. The kids had a blast as they bopped to the music while waving their glo-sticks and tamborines to the beat. The band mixed it up as only they could with hits from all the decades of rock, getting the crowd moving and shaking to songs like I'm a Believer, Too Little Too Late, I'm Yours, Listen to the Music and Jailhouse Rock. Jeremy had the crowd singing the chorus during Mustang Sally and Dave Blodgett smoked a searing extended solo during Superstition as the band laid down a solid foundation of thump. The boys from Glastonbury played non-stop for the two plus hours, leaving them wanting more. Blue Back Square is an experience and The Score looks forward to the next time they can grace the plaza's stage!
9/18/2010 The Score was honored to entertain at Mason and Lindsay's wedding at The Lace Factory in Deep River. This venue was a converted lace mill with stringed lights adorning the rafters which gave the place a magical, rustic look. The band realized quickly that this crowd knew how to celebrate and they kicked in several hours of danceable music. From the beginning, this was destined to be a fun filled night as the boys from Glastonbury jammed newer tunes like Slide, I'm Yours, and Her Diamonds as well as classics like Brown Eyed Girl, I Saw Her Standing There and Superstition. Wonderful Tonight provided a tender moment for the requisite slow dance, brought back Keith Urban's Making Memories of Us and the band debuted Uncle Kracker's Smile to the delight of the revelers. We'd like to thank Mason and Lindsay for allowing us to be a part of their special day- we had a great time! So... The Score as your wedding band? Sure, just hold the Funky Chicken and Electric Slide, and trade up for some real classic party rock!
8/28/2010 it was a bright and sunny day in beautiful Colchester Connecticut, a perfect setting for some "finish line" rock n' roll. The Score had the distinct pleasure to pitch in and perform at the Priam Vineyard and Winery to support Cardio Express' fundraiser and bike race to end Multiple Sclerosis. Under a large tent, the band jammed out to over 300 riders, vendors and their families, churning out a bevy of great tunes to salute those who rode for up to 75 miles! Evan Bellman again joined the band to seemlessly stand in for Dave Gager, and he did not disappoint leading us on a solid debut of NRBQ's Riding In My Car and Stevie Ray Vaughn's Pride and Joy. The band received a request for Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water, and even if we never did play it before, pulled off a smokin' version of the hard rock classic. The guys from Glastonbury rocked hard, but the kudos have to go to the riders that day who exempifed perserverance to stand up against this debilitating disease. The Score would like to thank Branford Hall's Massage Therapists for the rub downs and the MS Society of Connecticut for feeding us that wonderful lunch and the Priam Vineyard for the wine tasting. A special shout-out to the ladies at the prize booth- Thanks! We had a great time playing for this important cause!
7/22/2010 Some things change and some don't as The Score returned to Murphy & Scarletti's for another Thursday night of rockin' tunes- that of course remained the same at Farmington's landmark for rock. This time it was the Murph that changed as the band walked into a slightly different club- a much more open room in the midst of a new look. The Score played an energetic series of sets to entertain the crowd, opening the night withSpringsteen's The Rising, brought back Steal My Kisses and capped off set one with a request for She Sells Sanctuary. The band also welcomed Kent Blodgett as a guest guitarist to close out set two as he joined brother Dave and sparked a hot jam that included extended versions and powerful solos on Scarlet Begonias, Long Train Running and Brick House. He also displayed his fluid soloing chops as the group brought back Mary Jane's Last Dance. The Score eagerly awaits their return to Murphy's in October, where the stage will be, we aren't sure, but we do know that you should be there to find out!
7/10/2010 What is Wallacepalooza? Well, it's a large gathering of friends with loads of great food, lots of libations, awesome music and it stars of course Wallace the dog! It takes a great dog to put on a great party and this was a great party that dicey weather could not hope to put a damper on. The Score returned to the Bloomfield event for the second time, now as part of a powerful triple bill that included co-host Kevin Sheehan's brother Tim's band the Traveling Danburys and was headlined by rock star Pat Dinizio, frontman of The Smithereens! The Danburys opened the festivites with the duo entertaining everyone with a solid acoustic set of rock standards. Then The Score kicked the party into another gear with a high octane performance of rocking tunes. The band brought back a few songs including Margaritaville, a dedication for one of our hosts, Cate Kulak- She Sells Sanctuary and a powerhouse version of Learn to Fly. Jerome was working the crowd with vigor and Matt and Walter laid down a throbbing groove for Superstition while Dave and Tom traded off on hot solos. The band of five (Dave G. was out of town) jammed hard including a jumping offering of The Middle before triumphantly exiting the stage area. Then things got interesting. Dave B. had to leave and Pat DiNizio was running a bit late. So enter "The Traveling Scoreberrys" and in a game of "pickup musicians" united the remnants of both bands for a really cool acoustic guitar driven jam that included hot versions of Honky Tonk Woman, We're An American Band and an almost punky fast version of Brown Eyed Girl. The gang ended their evening with probably the only time Judas Priest's Living After Midnight was ever played live without an electric guitar- and it still rocked! Finally, Pat Dinizio arrived to entertain the crowd delivering an amazing acoustic session with rich backstories on all those famous Smithereens hits including Behind the Wall of Sleep, Only a Memory and Blood and Roses. Pat was a great guy, joking with the audience before, during and after his two set performance. It was a truly unique experience that's unforgettable. The Score would like to thank Kevin, Cate and of course Wallace for including us again at their bash!
7/8/2010 Blue Skies, green grass, add some great music- Priceless! And priceless it was as The Score put on a smashing debut on the East Hartford Town Green in front of a large crowd of onlookers as part of the town's free concert series. It was a bit of a homecoming as both Walter and Jeremy teach at EHMS, and Matt used to teach there, too. The local connection meant that there were many familiar faces in the crowd at this show as family, colleagues and friends dropped a blanket and mixed with the crowd. The band jammed their hearts out on the gazebo, while people enjoyed two sizzling sets of classic party rock from every decade. This outdoor show had it all: There were requests- another call for Franklin's Tower, we had two kids as guest tamborine players- they whipped up the crowd while keeping the beat and there was no shortage of dancers! The picnickers really connected to newer material showing support for I'm Yours and Her Diamonds, as well as classics like Jailhouse Rock and Your Mama Don't Dance. The band also did smoking jams on Superstition and Play That Funky Music to the delight of the crowd. Longtime friend, Ryan Markey helped out with sound and jumped in on vocals and rocked Hard to Handle and Long Train Running. This was a lot of fun and The Score thanks the East Hartford Parks and Rec and their sponsors for the opportunity to play the East Hartford Town Green.
6/28/2010 It's "town green" season and The Score opened the Summer Concert Series with a stop in Ellington, CT. It was a hot, sweltering day at Arbor Park, and storms threatened, a sprinkle happened, but that did not stop the boys from Glastonbury, nor their faithful fans from pitching a blanket to hear some good party music. Ellington resident Jeremy Banks led the band through two hours of non-stop rock for the hometown crowd as they cranked out a wide variety of tunes. The crowd cheered for Jumping Jack Flash and the kids were dancing for I'm a Believer, plus the Motown offerings were a hit. The Score brought back a couple of songs for the occasion, including a flowing rendition of the Grateful Dead's Franklin's Tower that just sounded like summer. Reaching back, the band offered a tight version of Gimme Three Steps and also jammed out a nasty version of Sharp Dressed Man. These outdoor events are always a great time because they are family fun events. So check us out on the East Hartford Green later this summer- bring a blanket, some snacks and a frisbee and soak up some sun with The Score!
6/10/2010 It was The Score and Murphy & Scarletti's. Put them together and you get a scorching serving of classic party rock! The band was in top form as they jammed out on three powerful sets before a large energetic crowd at Farmington's landmark for rock. The joint was rocking and by the middle of a frenzied second set, there was a dance floor full of revelers with dancing, bumping and grinding- we even had some hot breakdancing performed! The boys from Glastonbury were pulling out the stops to make a Thursday feel like the weekend- Jeremy worked the crowd, Matt jumped like a manaic , Blodgett had more than a few hot solos and the band was out on the floor often to entertain the masses. Spirited offerings of Rock This Town and Jailhouse Rock really made their motor run, and the shoes were kicked off for Play that Funky Music and I Want You to Want Me. The Score brought back a few favs including their powerful version of The Cult's She Sells Sanctuary as well as the classic tune Summertime Blues. The band played well past midnight, capping the night with some requests- Bon Jovi's Who Says You Can't Go Home and Matt ripped a fiery solo on Judas Priest's Living After Midnight. This was a hot show- hope you were there! The Score is slated to return to the Murph in July, don't miss it!
6/6/2010 The Score invaded UCONN to provide the entertainment for the Zeta Theta 50th year reunion. The party was at Alumni Hall with a solid group of 100 frat brothers and their significant others that spanned many years. The band jammed a quick jolt of energy in just under an hour of music, offering a rocking set of party music. The Score debuted the Loggins & Messina classic Your Mama Don't Dance and had them moving during songs like Honky Tonk Woman and Superstition. The boys from Glastonbury even snuck in some Zydeco! Alumnai Hall is a pretty cool place with loads of history- it has the UCONN Sports Hall of Fame. The Score would like to thank Doug Donaldson and the rest of the Zeta Thetas for including us in their event.
5/22/2010 Last year, The Score gladly auctioned off their services at a Renbrook fundraiser and the winner decided to have us play at the school's next fundraiser, so the band jammed out at the "Celebrate Renbrook" fundraiser and auction. This was another high powered event and The Score provided the energy for a short set of dance rock. After a hard night of bidding and eating a gourmet dinner, the crowd got to put on their dancing shoes and let loose! It was a great time, the school raised a lot of money auctioning off some amazing items. The Score was happy to be a part of this important event. If you have a party or event that needs a great party rock band, book The Score!
4/29/2010- Several years ago, The Score rocked out for the Connecticut Education Association Teacher's Union on the steps of the state capitol in front of thousands of supporters in defense of teacher pensions, and we'd like to think we "helped" the Governor see things our way. This time, the CEA brought us back for their big yearly delegate meeting at the Crowne Plaza in Cromwell to provide a rockin' good time, and the boys from Glastonbury did not disappoint playing two hours straight of danceable party rock. This time the band had rhythm guitar pro Dave Allen in the fold, subbing for Dave Gager who suffered a fractured elbow while showing off his driveway dunking ability (fear not, he's on the mend). The band delighted the crowd as they showed off their newest gem, a "Stevie Ray Wonder" version of Superstition. Dave Allen, also a vocalist in Mystery Tour Band, a successful Beatles tribute outfit, pitched in on lead vocals on Back in the USSR, giving an authentic take on the classic tune. The floor really heated up during Jailhouse Rock and Hound Dog as the crowd cut a rug with Jerome jamming among the throng. This band of teachers by day would like to thank the CEA for having us as a part of their evening event- we had a great time!
3/27/2010- Some things are worth the wait, and it is safe to say that The Score is one of those special things! For the second year in a row, the band entertained the Suffield Public Schools annual auction and fundraiser dinner at Maneely's in South Windsor. It was a themed event - 1920's prohibition era and the band even provided some Charleston music during the cocktail hour- ok it was an IPOD, but it was great background! The band went on late as the patrons took a little longer than expected, fighting over the amazing array of goodies that were for bid- but they had more than enough energy by the time the band took over at 10:30 as the Score kicked in ninety minutes of tight classic party rock. The crowd quickly let loose and flooded the dance floor, particularly cutting up the parque during The raunchy Rolling Stones double shot of Jumpin' Jack Flash (a Score first) and Honky Tonk Woman, and it continued through a spirited offering of China Grove. Plus the patrons showed their appreciation of the Score's debut of the Stray Cats classic Rock This Town. Tom Donato felt right at home jamming out some of his best sax work with all his Suffield friends in the house. We even had a lot of audience participation as various people joined in on the tambourine or on the mic. This was a win win for all- the school again pulled in a fantastic amount of money for their school, the band had a blast and the flappers and guys had a great time dancing the night away! The Score would like to thank Suffield Public Schools for again allowing us to be a part of their big night!
2/11/2010- The Score jammed out in Farmington at Murphy & Scarletti's as the band kicked off the weekend early for another Thursday night of rockin' tunes. The dance floor was moving during the first set, as the band zipped through favorites from the 50's through today. The extended second set was a lot of fun as the boys from Glastonbury reached back and added some lost favorites. Dave Gager took a spirited turn on lead vocals on The Grateful Dead's Fire on the Mountain, and the band absolutely rocked an unstoppable version of Jethro Tull's Locomotive Breath, a rarity- it's been many years since the last time that classic was played live- the Murph's stage was actually across the room! The band also jammed out on 25 or 6 to 4, to the deiight of official Score photographer, Tony Scherer, and added The Weight to the setlist, which featured each band member on a verse, except Tom who happily just blew his horn. For the finisher, the band and Matt rocked out on Paranoid. The sound was great that night as Blodge twisted the dials just right, so if you missed it, you can't get this one back- see you next time!
2/4/2010 It was a gala affair at the exclusive Hartford Club as The Score put a cap on the entertainment for the Greater Hartford Arts Council's "Let's Go Red" fundraising campaign for the arts! This was the place to be with a bevy of entertainers, gourmet food and beverage samples from some of the hottest restaurants, brewpubs and wineries in the Hartford area! The food was absolutely amazing- with unique food creations and lush desserts almost everywhere you turned. The high-end silent auction was a hit with TV personality Scott Haney at the mic, and the historic ambiance just exuded class. The boys from Glastonbury cleaned themselves up and put on a rocking show that kept the masses in the house at the end of the night with ninety minutes of dancable hits. It also marked the first time that the band was actually in two rooms at the same time, albeit two very nice ones- Dave Gager was kind of positioned in the next room over! The band demonstrated it's ability to touch all music eras and debuted a down home version of CCR's Down on the Corner and an improvised China Cat, plus they added something from today with Her Diamonds and I'm Yours together with a splash of bouncy Motown tunes. The band sends a special shout out to Sue, who brought an enthusiastic bunch of revelers to our end of the affair! It was a momentus night to support the arts in Greater Hartford, and The Score would like to thank the GHAC and The Hartford Club for having us as a part of their amazing event. If you have an event that needs a solid party rock band - book The Score!
New Year's Eve and The Score partied like it was 2009 at Piccolo Arancio in Farmington, CT! It was momentus way to bring in the New Year- marvelous food, great atmosphere, top notch wine and champagne and of course the bubbly sounds of The Score! The band started off gently while patrons enjoyed their scrumptious five course meal and then put the charge into the event with classic party rock, jamming until well after the one o'clock hour! The party went into overdrive just before the ball dropped as the dancers bopped to The Middle and In the Midnight Hour, which smartly featured an exciting New Year's countdown, a balloon drop and the classic Auld Lange Syne to welcome in 2010! The band then debuted a bluesy After Midnight to resume the tunes and much merry was made. There were requests of course and the boys from Glastonbury did not disappoint, first whipping out a soulful version of Me and Bobby McGee which featured Dave Blodgett on vocals, and then the coup de grace, a never been played by the band before, rocking offering of Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4, which sported some nifty sax work by Tom and spot on vocals belted out by our usually baritone Jerome! We also had guest musicians in the house- special thanks to Dan who sat in on drums for Good Lovin' and Sweet Home Alabama giving the band a solid backbeat, and to young Bella Cialfi who jammed out on guitar during Sweet Home Alabama! The Score would like to thank Sal, Tina and the entire Piccolo Arancio staff for the wonderful meal, and for allowing us to be a part of their New Year's Celebration!
Thursday, 12/10/2009- T'was the season to be rocking, and The Score did just that at their annual holiday show at Farmington's landmark for rock, Murphy & Scarletti's! The band had all cylinders firing as the dance floor swelled with enthusiastic barfles who bumped and grinded during two extended sets of classic party rock tunes. The band turned up the volume and turned in a solid first set including a long awaited return of Robert Palmer's Bad Case of Loving You, as well as a bouncy request for the Grateful Dead's Bertha. The second set was opened with the usual holiday festivities as the band belted out their Springsteenesque version of Santa Claus is Comin' to Town; Tom representing the horn section well with his antlers. Billy Baker joined the band for a smoky version of Can't You See, adeptly trading leads with Jerome. The second session also featured an amazing version of Rob Thomas' current radio smash, Her Diamonds, sure to be a set pleaser for future gigs. Things really heated up with Play That Funky Music and the ladies were smoldering on the floor- once again, thanks Tony for the pics (stay tuned for the postings)! The band ended the night with Black Sabbath's Paranoid, where Matt got an early Xmas gift, and happily channeled his "inner metal" on a slammin' guitar solo. Santa would have been proud! We left them wanting more this holiday season, and if you missed this epic show, you will have to wait until February to get off the "naughty" list!
Saturday, November 14th, The Score rocked the house for the East Hartford High Classes of 1978 and 79 at Maneely's in South Windsor. It was a large crowd of revelers and they sure know how to party! The band started out quietly and ended with a bang slowly turning up the heat throughout the night. The band showcased a smooth version of Wonderful Tonight and a debuted funky offering of Brick House to the delight of the dancers. In between the two extended sets, the band turned spectator and enjoyed from the sidelines as the patrons turned back the clock to show off their talents. First up was Rock N' Roll Revival, reprising their talent show offerings of four tunes including Smoke on the Water, was led by Rich Pierce of the regional Florida rock act Rambler, they did not disappoint. Then then the mic was given up to country songwriter and guitarist Theresa who performed an amazing version of Desperado as well as a couple of well received original tunes. It was a wild and crazy night and The Score would like to thank the Classes of '78 and '79 for allowing us to be a part of their night. If you have a class reunion and want a solid classic party band, book The Score!
Friday, October 30th and The Score rocked out in their debut at Bleacher's Sports Bar in Bristol! With the power of a pro sound system that when turned up could leave a charred strip mall sized crater, the band never sounded better! The stage was large, we had professional lights and even some fog to add to the Halloween mood! Yes there was some pre-show trepidation- Weird wireless issues thanks to ESPN, Tom dropped his sax and had to break it to "fix" it, and Matt Krazy Glued his fingertip to mend a blister, but you can't stop rock and roll and the boys from Glastonbury cranked out three solid sets of classic rock. To keep in the spirit, the band brought back Warren Zevon's Werewolves of London. This show had plenty of guests including "Elvis", who apparently left the Jungle Room for a Halloween appearance during our Jailhouse Rock/ Hound Dog medley. We had no shortage of tamborine player either! Longtime friend, Ryan Markey also returned to our stage jamming out with us for several numbers, as well as surprise guests, Bryan Lendroth and Trish Radil of the regional party rock band, The Groove Junkies. Trish showed off her powerful pipes teaming up with Jeremy and Ryan on Black Horse and Cherry Tree, and on Who Says You Can't Go Home and Bryan allowed Blodge to get a beer, taking over guitar duties on Long Train Running. Check them out at Bleachers in November! Special thanks to Marty for providing the sound- a pro's pro who also entertained us with so many cool rock stories. The Score would love the opportunity to return to Bleacher's, so stay tuned for details.
Thursday, October 15th and yes, your eyes weren't deceiving you- it was freezing cold and snowing steadily in Farmington! But it was more than sizzling hot inside Murphy and Scarletti's where The Score scorched through their sets for a loyal group of patrons that braved the wacky weather. There was true energy that night as the band aggresively worked the crowd, as Matt took out several objects as only he can! This time the band did two long sets, pumping out a double sized second set that lasted to the very end and left them wanting more. Several old tunes were brought back, including a powerful version of The Who's The Seeker and a soulful offering of Gavin DeGraw's I Don't Want to Be. For something new, the band added a rocking version of Cheap Trick's Surrender! The crowd wasn't as big as we are used to at Farmington's landmark for Rock and Roll, but they sure knew how to rock! The Score returns to The Murph in December for their annual holiday bash- Santa already put it on his list, so be there!
Sunday 9/20 Have event? Will travel- this time the Score goes back to The Society Room, the former Joe Black's, in Downtown Hartford on historic Pratt Street! The band entertained the Drago Birthday Party against the backdrop of the sweeping staircases that looked straight out of a classic movie. The breathtaking 50 foot high painted ceilings and the unique bank vault room add to the charm. The songs ranged from some Elvis in the 50's to today with the band doing their version of Jason Mraz's I'm Yours. This was a family affair as the band ended the day with Stefan Drago joining the rockers on vocals, crooning to his parents on their birthday belting out Billy Joel's You May Be Right, and he did not disappoint! It was a good time for all! We would like to thank the Drago's and the Society Room for the opportunity to perform their party.
Sunday, 9/13/09 The Score returned to Renbrook School to be the showcase entertainment for their annual Kickoff and Ice Cream Social. Perched high up on the deck, the band jammed their signature party rock classics to a football field full of Renbrook students, staff and friends. Two new songs were added to the evergrowing list as the band performed Jason Mraz's I'm Yours and then pulled off a request for some Green Day- rocking out Static Age to the delight of the younger crowd members. As always, it was a fun event, great weather, Ice Cream, a Moonbounce and rolling down the hill during Slide! What more could anyone want on a perfect day? A very special thanks to Joe DeSisto and his cadre of Renbrook students for helping with the sound!
Thursday, 7/16 The Score invades Farmington! The Score made Thursday look like the weekend again at Murphy & Scarletti's, packing the place and providing three searing sets of unyielding energy. This gig had it all- great music, new tunes, old tunes, suprise guests and more! The band had several guests come up on stage, including Ryan Markey as he added pipes to form a formidible vocal duo with Jeremy Banks on Hard to Handle, Long Train Runnin' and the Elvis Medley. Mitch Banks joined his bro on the stage, pitching in on drums, bangin' out I Saw Her Standing There, China Grove and Jenny (867-5309). The band brought back Summer of '69 back after a four year shelving and it rocked better than ever! The boys played well past twelve and to celebrate, the band, with Matt on lead guitar, unveiled their metal side with a raging version of Judas Priest's Living After Midnight, to great applause. And to end this near perfect night of rock and roll, the Score capped off a great version of The Weight, which had each band member (even Matt- but not Tom) sing a verse, to an enthusiastic crowd that sang along. Speaking of Tom- don't forget to go to the Hartford Advocate.com and vote for him in the Best Horn Section- If he wins The Score wins, so show your support and get us on that stage! The Score returns to the Murph in October- you do not want to miss it, so be there!
Join the Fun!
Saturday, 6/21 The Score rocked the house in their debut at historic Cheney Hall in Manchester! It was a night of partying for Doug Donaldson's 60th birthday bash as they were treated that night to not only the sweet sounds of The Score, but also the funky cajun beats of River City Slim and the Zydeco Hogs! It was an awesome stage to perform on and your band from Glastonbury had the Mardi Gras themed crowd dancing throughout their two sets as they served up great tunes like Ain't Too Proud to Beg, I Saw Her Standing There and Hard to Handle. The guys also brought back some classics like Stray Cat Strut and Back in the USSR. We want to thank The Hogs for providing the sound for this amazing gig and we wish Doug a happy 60th birthday and we want to thank him for letting The Score entertain him on his big day! If you have a party, book The Score!
Saturday, 6/6 The Score opened the Suffield Relay for Life Cancer Benefit with a bang, playing over two hours of tight rock and roll! This was a great cause, as many relay teams walked, jogged and wheeled their way to raising money for cancer research. The throngs of walkers and event organizers waved and bopped to the music as they passed the band tent, while The Score served up their energetic brand of party rock. The band brought back a couple of tunes from the ever-increasing vault such as Fleetwood Mac's Don't Stop and the boys added the always fun Summertime Blues. A special thanks to all the Scoreheads (and Wallace the Dog) that came on down to support us and the Relay for Life, as well as props to all those walkers-many who brought camping gear and will go all night long. We had a blast and we want to thank the American Cancer Society and the Suffield Relay for Life for having us entertain them during this uplifting event!
Thursday, 5/28 Six months seemed like an eternity, but Murphy & Scarletti's was reminded why The Score rocks! And there was no reason to think otherwise! The energy was high, the house was packed, people were dancing and the band jammed well past midnight! The band served up some new songs for the faithful, including Jimmy Buffet's Fins- complete with the Jaws Theme and Tom adding various foghorn shots, a peppy offering of Grand Funk's Some Kind of Wonderful, as well as an energetic version for our bar friends of the Barenaked Ladies' Too Little Too Late. The first set rocked hard and we highlighted an extended second set that included Billy Baker returning to join the stage on Can't You See. The boys fufilled several song requests, welcomed a couple of tamborine players and celebrated a couple of birthdays- Happy B-Day Tony! We could have played all night, but the staff had to sweep up sometime, so we left 'em wanting more! This show was a fun time for all, but if you were one of the few who missed it, we'll forgive ya, but never fear, we are back at Farmington's landmark for rock in July!
Saturday, 3/28 Another successful fundraiser in the books as The Score provided the rockin' and rollin' at Maneely's in South Windsor for the Suffield Public Schools fundraiser and auction. It was a gala affair as big ticket items went for bigger bucks and even Attorney General Richard Bluementhal was there to say a few words. I bet Mr. B wished that he stayed around for The Score because it was a sizzling show! The dance floor quickly filled up and the party heated up as the band served up their patented groove with rocking songs from every decade. To the crowd's delight, Suffield's own Tom Donato blasted more than a few sax solos for his comrades. As always, the band left them wanting more, dropping in a couple of Grateful Dead requests, bringing back CCR's Up Around the Bend and finishing the night with a slick version of Slide. The Score really enjoyed their gig for the Suffield Public Schools and wish them well in their quest for quality education.
Saturday, 3/14 The Score put on the rocks for the Lewis Mills High School Project Graduation fundraiser. This rocking affair was at Marinelli's Supper Club in Burlington and was designed to raise money for safe senior graduation parties, a cause that hits home with the "band of teachers". Special thanks to Mark for sitting in on drums during Bad Moon Rising. There was quite a lot of rocking and dancing with this small energetic crowd, and The Score definitely delivered with a tight set of tunes!
Thursday, 3/5/09 The Score returned to the Gershon Fox Room at the G-Fox building, this time rocking out for the Greater Hartford Arts Council. The GHAC organizes corporate sponsors and supports local artists, theatre, dance and music- a cause close to our hearts! The band jammed for over 90 minutes and started the night softly as the patrons milled about, but ended with a roar, as the crowd danced the night away. There was a new song unveiled- a snappy cover of The Bearnaked Ladies' Too Little Too Late, and tonight's favorites included Mustang Sally, Ain't Too Proud to Beg and I Second That Emotion, which definitely had the parquet floor moving! A special thanks to the Greater Hartford Arts Council for inviting us to entertain them during their fundraiser kickoff. If you have a special event, look no further than The Score!
Saturday, 2/8/09 The Score opened their party calandar with a show for the law fim McCarter and English. The band rocked out at The Marquee which is located in the classy Gershon Fox Room of the G.Fox building in hopping downtown Hartford. This was a fun filled event that had the band play songs from every decade from the 50's through today to serve the wide range of tastes. There were plenty of new tunes including a tongue in cheek jam of Warren Zevon's Lawyers, Guns and Money, a rocking version of The Breakup Song, an offering of The Band's hit, The Weight which even had Matt sing a verse- a first (could it be the last time?), as well as a soulful version of Michael Buble's Home. The third set revved things up with the stalwarts and was a mix of harder rocking songs and an extended Dead set including a tune we have never played together before- Touch of Grey, and as the song goes- "we did get by". Kudos to Lawyer Lou who jammed with the band on tambourine and backups! The band enjoyed their time with McCarter and English and thank them for allowing us to entertain them during their winter party.
Thursday, 12/18/08 While Santa was packing up the sled, feeding the reindeer and convincing elves not become dentists, he was really wishing that he could be rocking with The Score at Murphy & Scarletti's in Farmington. It was a raucous event with a merry horde of naughty and nice. The band sizzled with an eclectic three sets of classic party rock that had the massive Thursday night crowd dancing and cheering, as they served up the seasonal Santa Claus is Coming to Town and new offerings of Oasis' Champagne Supernova, the Rolling Stone's Last Time and a very cool Scorified version of Boys of Summer which had a little Henley, some jump from the Ataris and a touch of The Hooters in it for good measure. A special shout out goes to Billy for giving a gritty and powerful performance with his duet with Jerome on Can't You See, which has become a sit-in favorite! The Band also checked their lists and played the Beatles Birthday twice for celebrating patrons. The band of teachers successfully participated in a "snow day" chant with state workers which of course was successful, great news since we played well past midnight, and still they wanted more. This show was one not to miss, so a piece of coal for you if you did! Maybe next year, Santa will put The Score Holiday Jam on HIS list- take note Mrs. Claus, 'cause this one is in the books!Thursday, 10/16/08 It was a long time coming, but The Score rocked the house in their return to Farmington's landmark for live music. The band was red hot right out of the gate with a scorching first set for the huge crowd. The dance floor quickly started to fill up and the "extra curricular activites" resembled a racy Dancing With the Stars routine. During the extended second set, the band handed out Hawaiian leis during the crowd pleasing Volcano. Former Tenet lead vocalist, Ryan Markey jumped in with the band on several songs including a rocking version of Hard to Handle and a stirring Can't You See, adeptly trading lines on the tunes with Jeremy Banks. This party continued well past midnight thanks to great music and the exciting and improbable Red Sox comeback, which made MOST of the band happy. The Score will be back for its annual December holiday show at the Murph, so bring your naughty and nice lists and we'll see you there!
Sunday, 9/21- For the second year in a row, Renbrook's kickoff picnic was treated to the sweet sounds of The Score. It was a rollicking family event that had everything a picnic needed- great weather, burgers and dogs, a moonbounce and a couple of hours of great music! A special thanks goes to Joe DeSisto and his cadre of Renbrook students for the great job with sound.
Saturday, 9/12- Oh what a night! Hall High School's Class of '63 was treated to a rockin' good time at their 45th reunion at Avon's Blue Fox Run. The Score recreated their set list to focus on their tunes from the 50's to early 70's but the crowd really dug their version of Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, forming a huge dance circle and bringing back those high school moments! Of course they went wild and twisted the night away during our extended Elvis jam and a groovin' version of Johnny B. Goode that featured hot solos from both Daves and a sizzling sax fill! This floor was shaking all over with some fun tunes like Summertime Blues, Saturday's Alright for Fighting and In The Midnight Hour. The band broke out a request for Wonderful Tonight to end the show with a romantic slow dance. This gig was a blast for everyone and The Score wishes Hall's class of '63 all the best and maybe we'll see them again at their 50th!
Saturday, 9/6 There was the calm before the storm, then... The Score invaded the Suffield Town Green and rocked the crowds at the annual Suffield Days Fair. The craft fair/ food festival was hanging on the threat of tropical storm Hanna, but the six guys from Glastonbury willed the showers away until deep into the set. This was a family event, so the band played a selection of songs that spanned fifty years of rock and roll; there was something for everyone! The band shined on the local Scout troop's request for ZZ Top's Sharp Dressed Man, and added a tension filled Black Horse Cherry Tree. The band jammed through the heat and humidity for almost two hours until the storm finally came to town. Thanks to Suffield for having us- we had a great time!
Thursday, 8/21 It was a great night for rock and roll in West Hartford's Blue Back Square: The weather was perfect, the crowd was large, there was the unique stage that crowns the open air plaza, and of course, The Score was in the house! The band jammed for well over two hours straight, offering their brand of classic party rock to an appreciative eclectic crowd, teeming with people of all ages. The Band added several new songs to their set list including a tight version of The Foo Fighters Learn to Fly, a rockin' offering of Grand Funk's We're An American Band and a bright cover of the Doobie Brothers' Listen to the Music. This was an event to remember and The Score looks forward to the next time they have the opportunity to play Blue Back!
Thursday, 7/17 The Score cranked it up for our favorite place in Farmington, as the gents out of Glastonbury once again made a Thursday night feel like the weekend at Murphy and Scarletti's. The three sets were tight as the band watched the crowd grow, people get merry and move to the music. There were many highlights to note from both band and crowd, including a request for some Marshall Tucker, which yeilded a soulful return of Can't You See. The Score gave a jazzy offering of Stray Cat Strut and rocked the house with Blodge doing the lead vox on Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting! The crowd was not to be outdone as we had Angelus Tamaro as a guest drummer to open set three, keeping the beat for an impromptu version of It's All Over Now. Plus we had one patron walk across the dance floor on her hands! Truly, we have pics! If you missed the Murphy show and long for the wild times they always create, come on down in October and check us out.
Saturday, 7/12 It was a great time playing at the Raisner Extravaganza in West Hartford, CT, as The Score rocked the party with a tight night of moonlight jamming. The band played two long sets of requests and favorites plus they dusted off some old tunes from the past including Hootie and the Blowfish's Only Wanna Be With You and a jamming version of the Grateful Dead's Franklin's Tower. A souful Black Horse Cherry Tree got the party moving and grooving. The food from Cafe Louisa was bangin', of course the band rocked, the ladies were dancing and everyone was raving about how this was the place to be Saturday night. Thanks Amy and David for having us as a part of your event! And if you need a band for your private party, check out The Score!

Saturday, 7/12/08 It was a great time playing at the Raisner Extravaganza in West Hartford, CT, as The Score rocked the party with a tight night of moonlight jamming. Sunday, 6/8/08 It was a long strange trip to East Hartford as The Score returned to the East Hartford French Club's Annual Booster Picnic. The band had to fight through high humidity and brutal temperatures racing near triple digits, bizarre wiring and interference issues and then a lengthy torrential lightning storm, but the lads out of Glastonbury perservered and put on a quality performance. The band mixed it up the set list to best suit the crowd as they enjoyed the delicious food, and when it wasn't hazardous, the outdoor games, volleyball, raffles, moonbounce and the mud wrestling pit. Yes, there was a mud wrestling pit, but since it was not included in our contract, The Score did not directly participate in that specific event. The band sure had a rockin' mud-free time. And of course, like most storybook endings that has to do with bands, hot dogs and beer (and mud), everyone lived happily ever after! Thanks to French Club for their hospitality!
Thursday 5/2908 It was back to business as The Score rocked the joint at Murphy & Scarletti's in Farmington. The second set was a blistering affair with a powerful version of Pinball Wizard to open. The second stanza didn't let up as the dance floor filled up quickly and a beach ball was tossed around marking the opening of the summer season. The third set evoked the same energy, as the band smoothed their way through Moondance and then kicked it up three notches with some ZZ Top. As usual, when it was time to pack up, the energetic crowd called for more, and the band delivered a raucous I Want You to Want Me and threw in some Monkees for good measure, as the band bopped with the crowd on the floor. The band added several new tunes to the set list, working in the Daughtry hit Home, a peppy revisit of Tom Petty's Don't Do Me Like That and a version of Slide by the Goo Goo Dolls. We return to the Murph in July, so we will see you there!
Saturday 4/19/08... The Score rocks the first of two this year for the East Hartford French Club. Playing at the Glastonbury Irish American Home of all places, the band returned to play for the club on the strength of last year's successful picnic performance and once again the rockers out of Glastonbury did not disappoint, by alternately rocking out and slowing it down by adding songs like Amie, Dock of the Bay and Life by the Drop. This was the first gig without a core member of the band in eons as Evan Bellman subbed in for Dave Gager. Bellman added some different flavors to the show, highlighted by slick off the cuff performances of Van Morrison's Moondance, Friends in Low Places, Desperado and a by request ZZ Top three song excursion at the end of the night. Bellman shined on bass during Moondance, and played a nifty guitar and hot vocals on LaGrange, with Jerome belting it out on Tush and Sharp Dressed Man. Walter Jennings even got in a short drum solo! The band adeptly brought back Wonderful Tonight after many years to satisfy requests, and featured Matt on Mandolin during Kenny Chesney's What I Need to Do and CSNY's Southern Cross. The Score will play again for the French Club, this time in East Hartford for their June Booster Picnic, so come on down and enjoy the band, the family fun and great food!
Thursday, 4/10/08...Always a favorite place to see your band, The Score had the patrons at the Farmington landmark for rock rolling. The first set at Murphy & Scarletti's was hot from start to finish, lighting it up with some of our best, including a tight version of All Right Now and a frenetic Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting with Dave Blodgett on lead vocals. Matt literally ripped the cord out of his amp jumping around during She Sells Sanctuary. During the second and third sets, The Score faithful were treated to guest guitarist extrodinaire Evan Bellman of The Blackburns and he wowed them with a well balanced attack of finesse and power. Bellman jams with Walter in The Blackburns - check them out! The second set was a twenty song super-sized marathon that included searing extended jams during the crowd requested Mary Jane's Last Dance which featured Blodgett's guitar handiwork, while Bellman showed his chops on a smoking set ender during Johnny B. Goode. This crowd wasn't our biggest, but there were a lot of new faces, and they had staying power until well after midnight. The final set was highlighted with our new fans calling for some modern rock which we of course obliged, serving up a monster version of Fuel's Shimmer. The Score is back at the 'Murph in May, so don't miss it!
Friday, 3/21/08... If there wasn't your favorite rock band cranking it up to a huge and enthusiastic crowd, you could easily believe that Cary Grant or Kate Hepburn would be gracefully decending from the amazing staircase in some old movie. The Score's debut at Joe Black's in historic downtown Hartford can only be described as the perfect melding of the classy decor, dancing and great music. If you haven't been to Joe Black's, you are missing out on the breathtaking architecture, the quaint side rooms, their balcony and what appeared to be 50 foot high painted ceilings, which made it seem like we were playing in the Bushnell. The natural reverb in this venerable venue gave the show a distinct arena quality. The extended second set was relentless and packed the dance floor. Jeremy and Blodge made full use of the place, even performing I'm a Believer from the balcony during our encore! The band served up some new tunes as well for this mega event, including a searing set stopper Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting and a fun version of The Ramone's I Wanna Be Sedated. The band also broke into the vault to steal some old favorites (Joe Black's was a bank in it's former life) including Southern Cross and U2's One. Obviously, The Score looks forward to returning to Joe Black's, so look out for future dates!
Thursday, 2/14/08...Lovers of all ages were out to see The Score on Valentine's Day in Farmington to Steal Some Kisses from their favorite band. Some ate the Hershey's kisses, some were more creative, but everyone agreed, it was another tight, rockin' show at The Murph. The crowd danced well past midnight, with their sweethearts. Love songs such as Sharp Dressed Man, Johnny B. Goode and 867-5309 set the mood for romance. Before the night ended, each band member was presented a Valentine's gift from our faithful fans, with an extra-special thanks to Shana. Thanks Girls! You can see us back at Murphy's to celebrate some more on April 10th. Don't miss it!
Friday, 2/8 First gig of 2008, The Score flew into Windsor Locks for a return engagement at The Blackboard Cafe. Ok, we really drove in, but there were no shortage of planes in the area and the crowd enthusiasm was sky high. The groove was thumping and the crowd was bumping all night long, particularly in the third set, which was highlighted by several stunning ladies and a down and dirty version of ZZ Top's Sharp Dressed Man. The band also added other new tunes to their rep, including SRV's Crossfire and Surrender by Cheap Trick. The rockers from Glastonbury also expertly pulled off some old favorites including Elevation, Shimmer and by request, Green Day's She. It was a rockin' good time and The Score looks forward to returning to The Blackboard, stay tuned!
Saturday, 12/29/07 Nothing like closing out a great year on a high note! The Score jammed another searing show for the throng of patrons at Sweet Jane's in Hartford. It was great to see both familiar and new faces in the crowd! The first two sets were blistering, carrying over their Murphy's magic from a week before, and the last set was almost a request-fest, for the late night partygoers! The Motown selections had the dancers moving, and the place went crazy during Hey Jealousy and Play That Funky Music. To the delight of longtime fans, Matt returned to his jumping ways, full force during The Middle, as bandmates scurried for cover. And what was with the Tiara? You had to be there! The Score looks forward to the next time they grace the historic Pratt Street establishment, dates to be determined, so keep your eyes and ears open!
Thursday, 12/20/07 Ho Ho Ho- hope you didn't miss the 4th annual Chrismas show... Like the big guy in the red suit, this only happens once a year, and again The Score brought the chimney down at Murphy & Scarletti's in Farmington! The band spread the good cheer by banging out three scorching sets in front of a loud and proud group of naughty and nice. The crowd was treated to two Christmas classics: First, a spirited version of Bruce Springsteen's Santa Claus is Coming to Town, now spicier with some Donato sax appeal, and a peppy cover of Chuck Berry's Run Run Rudolph. Plus, the band added Elvis to the mix, breaking out a medley of Jailhouse Rock and Hound Dog. The guitars were hot with the Daves, and Matt had more than the chestnuts roasting on his fiery guitar mini-set. Walter was rock solid behind the kit (even after we left him alone on stage during I Want You to Want Me) and Jeremy belted it out all night, working the crowd into a bumping and grinding frenzy. The gig went deep into the night and we had to leave 'em wanting more. So, if you were one of the few not there, you can't get this one back, but never worry- The Score returns to the Murph for another holiday show- Cupid, bring your sweetheart(s)- the arrows are flying again on Valentine's Day, 2/14/08!
